Some time ago, I discovered that one of my chairs had a broken leg. I didn't think there would be any difficulty in getting it mended, as there are a lot of antique (古董) shops near my home. So I left my home one morning carrying the chair with me. I went into the first shop expecting a friendly reception (接待). I was quite wrong. The man wouldn't even look at my chair.
The second shop, though slightly more polite, was just the same, and the third and the fourth. So I decided that my approach must be wrong.
I entered the fifth shop with a plan in my mind. I placed the chair on the floor and said to the shopkeeper, \"Would you like to buy a chair?\" He looked at it over carefully and said, \"Yes, not a bad chair. How much do you want for it?\" \"Twenty pounds.\" I said. \"OK,\" he said, \"I will give you twenty pounds.\" \"It's got a slightly broken leg,\" I said. \"Yes, I saw that, it is nothing.\" the shopkeeper answered.
Everything was going according to my plan and I was getting excited. \"What will you do with it?\" I asked. \"It will be easy to sell once the repair is done.\" \"I will buy it.\" I said. \"What do you mean? You just sold it to me.\" \"Yes, I know, but I have just changed my mind, I am sorry. I will give you twenty - seven pounds for it.\" \"You must be crazy.\" he said. Suddenly the penny dropped. \"I know what you want. You want me to repair your chair.\" \"You are right,\" I said, \"What would you have done if I had walked in and asked you to mend the chair?\" \"I would not have agreed to do that. We don't do repairs, not enough money in it, and too much trouble. But I will mend this for you. Will you pay it for five? \". He was a very nice person and was greatly amused (感到有趣) by the whole thing.

Walking around the small English city of Bath is like walking around a living museum. You can't help breathing in the history and staring in wonder at the beautiful old buildings that line the streets.
Its name comes from the fact that it was built around a natural spring, now in the heart of the city. It was the Romans who, 2,000 years ago, built baths using the naturally hot water that came up from the ground. One of the major attractions of the city is the Roman Baths that still function as they did in the past.
Located in the southwest of the country, the city is surrounded by the green and pleasant hills England is famous for. The first people to live in the area were the original Britons(英国人), called the Celts. They were also attracted to the area by the springs.
One of English literature's greatest figures, Jane Austen, lived in Bath from 1801 to 1806. She knew the city so well that she based two of her novels, “Northanger Abbey”(诺桑觉寺) and “Persuasion”(劝导), in the city.
Today Bath is protected as a World Heritage Site. It is a great place to visit to really get a feel of how an English city must have felt and looked like 200 years ago. You can wander around and lose yourself in the small cobbled alleyways(石子小巷) that lead from one historic site to another. Along any route you will find traditional English pubs serving real beer and good home-cooked food. No trip to England would be complete without a visit to Bath.

the women, you will face the question the hard way.
A man will enjoy a clean, orderly house, but he usually won’t make the effort to clean or organize it. This doesn’t mean that a woman has to do all the housework; she may have to manage many of household duties, and request his partner’s participation. A woman can often say that men and women should take equal responsibility for housework.
Very few men are raised to be fully responsible for housework, and many men look on housework as women’s work. On the other hand, most men will readily work around the yard, make repairs and complete projects on weekends or evenings, and it’s important that you give your man appreciation for those things too. Most man will take a little additional housework around the house if asked politely. They are even more likely to do housework if they choose what they want to do, and do it without being monitored.
Here is the key; men want to feel that they are doing housework because they want to please their women. Men are much less likely to take on household tasks they consider uninteresting and unimportant. In other words, men are likely to do a household task just for good of the house. 71.The passage is mainly about how to _____.
A.get men to do some housework B.get men to serve their families C.praise men’s housework D.make men do all the housework. 72.According to the passage a man ____
A.is willing to do housework. B.likes to be told how to do housework
C.is taught to be responsible for housework from childhood D.likes a clean house but doesn’t make effort to do it.
73.In order to get men to do some housework, women should often ____
A.order them to do their share. B.ask them to do some housework politely C.blame men’s laziness D.monitor men’s work 74.According to the passage, the underlined sentence (in paragraph 4) means the men won’t ____. A.work without any payment B.do unimportant household tasks
C.do housework without women’s praise D.please their wives
75.According to the passage, which of the following would a husband most probably like to do?
A.clean the table B.cook breakfast
C.repair the fence D.ask his wife to work on the yard.
